Family Programs -- Summer 2010
Visit over eighty interactive stations in two fun exhibitions for children ages 5 - 12: From Home to Home: Jewish Immigration to America and From Tent to Temple: Life in the Ancient Near East. In From Home to Home, children pack small trunks, shop in a supermarket while decoding a new language, design a neighborhood and much more. Hunting for food, grinding wheat, and weaving cloth are just some of the exciting activities in From Tent to Temple.
Anytime during your visit, join us in the art room for the art activities below.
August on weekdays, 3-6pm
Tuesday 8/3, Wednesday 8/4, Thursday 8/5:
Learn how to weave using beautiful multicolored yarn! Design a New York neighborhood. Explore both exhibitions!
Tuesday 8/10, Wednesday 8/11, Thursday 8/12:
Use little stones to create beautiful mosaics! Design an immigration board game using colored cardboard and markers, dice, and stickers. Explore both exhibitions!
Tuesday 8/17, Wednesday 8/18, Thursday 8/19:
Create beautiful "ancient" jewelry using beads and sheet metal! Create a comic strip about immigrating to America. Explore both exhibitions!
Tuesday 8/24, Wednesday 8/25, Thursday 8/26:
Create paper dolls of immigrant children at the turn of the 20th century. Learn how to weave using beautiful multicolored yarn. Explore both exhibitions!
Tuesday 8/31:
Back to School! Make leather or felt pencil cases. Design decorative nameplates. Create personalized lunch bags. Explore both exhibitions!
General Admission to Exhibitions and Art Activities:

Family Programs -- Fall 2010
September on Sundays, 2-5pm
Sunday 9/5:
Prep for Rosh Hashanah! Create pop-up Rosh Hashanah greeting cards; decorate and personalize a calendar for the New Year; decorate honey jars using speacial markers.

Sunday 9/12:
Use multicolored yarn to learn how to weave and make friendship bracelets; build dioramas of life in the "old country."

Sunday 9/19:
Prep for Sukkot! Make embossed etrog containers; design welcome plaques; create colorful, hanging sukkah decorations.

Sunday 9/26:
Sukkot and Simhat Torah! Build a miniature sukkah out of wood and fabric; design a Simhat Torah flag; make beautiful sukkah decorations and potpourri satchels.
